I think it was because of shitty DRM or somethingīy "this case" I was referring to my own initial post.Īnd in my case, the cable TV provider (Yousee, the largest one in Denmark, although I don't think they exist internationally) doesn't provide a login for Paramount+, but instead actually has the Paramount+ content on their own streaming service.Langenscheidt: exciting possibilities without all the confusionĪs a young man travelling around Europe, Gustav Langenscheidt (1832–1895), founder of the renowned language resource publisher Langenscheidt, discovered just how important the knowledge of foreign languages is for successful communication.įor more than one hundred and sixty years, Langenscheidt has been offering a broad range of products to language learners, professionals and enthusiasts.

What does that have to do with cable providers? That's more like Disney+ and Netflix (in the past) not actually providing the same streaming quality through every app or browser, like there's currently no way to get 4k Disney streaming on PC the last time I checked. This is through the cable TV provider's streaming and the problem also happens with non-Paramount content. In this case it's not actually a problem with Paramount's streaming.

I got a weeks free that I enabled through Apple TV and the image quality was A+ now I’m watching through a different account I can’t watch it through that app and instead use the pc I have plugged into the tv witha browser and the image quality is worse than an illegally downloaded copy. Paramount+ is by far the worst online streaming option. Which means that I was misled into thinking that a perfectly monolingual anglophone pun I was making was a bilingual one, thus making a fool out of myself because I thought I had to explain the wordplay when I didn't.Ĭheck out the database section of your local library's website! The digital OED is a very common subscription for both public and academic libraries, and most of them allow you to access it from home if you log in with your library card. 100$/year! The online Merriam-Webster dictionary, meanwhile, is free, google-searchable (and incomplete) in comparison. Personal complaint for this post: you have to pay a subscription fee to consult the online Oxford English Dictionary. They aren't relationship enders, or dangerous, or majorly disruptive, but whenever you're reminded of them you sigh a little bit. That's kind of a thing in bureaucracies all over the world, but boy nobody does it like Japan.Įverybody has little annoyances in their day to day life that are noticeable, but that can't be easily fixed and aren't really worth bringing up a lot of the time. I firmly believe that a good number of JP government workers actually pride themselves on how thoroughly unhelpful and frustrating they can be.

Now I’m back at a different license office, and I’ve at least made it past the first paperwork phase. I wasted the entire morning going there, arguing with that dumbass, then going home and getting more paperwork. That fucking license office was over an hour from my house. They refused to see reason, despite the address showed the same on every single document, because I choose three separate dates from my employment with this company, which any person with half a brain would take to mean I lived in the same place and worked for the same company for at least that long between the first pay stub and the last. The absolute dipshit at the window refused to accept these documents as proof of the time span, because each pay stub says “Pay Period Start:” and “Pay Period End:” with a two week term each…which they took to interpret I only worked for this company a total of 6 weeks.

The time span between the first and last was like 2+ years. I chose three pay stubs from my old company: the first and last I had that listed at that address, and one in the middle. I brought all the paperwork, but one of the requirements was to show I lived at the address on my license at least three months. It’s one of the few states in the US that means you don’t need to take a driving test here. I tried to get my license converted today from the state of Virginia to Japan, which is allegedly an easier process than most international conversions.
